Drum Motors

Unlike conventional drive systems, motorized pulleys have no chains or V-belts to tighten or replace, no sprockets to align, clean or lubricate, no bearings to grease, and doesn't require chain guards that need replacing.

Roll Motors

A motorized pulley is a drum motor in which the body rotates around a stationary shaft. The rotating outer drum becomes the traction surface that powers the conveyor belt.

Motorized Pulley

Electric power leads pass through the stationary shaft to motor terminals inside the pulley housing.  Since the end shaft does not rotate, there is no need for slip rings to deliver electrical power to the motor windings.

All external moving parts such as gearbox, chains, motor, chain guard and pillow block bearings that present safety hazards are eliminated.

Low profile of the drum motor results in a streamline appearance and allows to fit more belt conveyor into less floor or overhead space. Allows higher density and multiple applications.

Van der Graaf drum motors operate at 96% mechanical efficient resulting in lower operating cost compared to conventional drives. The higher efficiency of the internal drive can result in energy savings of up to 30% over conventional exposed-drive conveyors.

Our gears are manufactured using high quality alloy steel,  machined and honed to AGMA/DIN 6 standards, reducing noise to minimal decibel levels which exceeds OSHA requirements for noise.

The drum motor having no external moving components, eliminates the need for continual chain adjustment and yearly maintenance. Our motors are virtually maintenance free, requiring only an oil change after 50,000 hours of operation which can be performed without removing the drum motor from the conveyor.

Extreme pressure wash down with sanitizer is easily performed without the need to shield sensitive components since the completely sealed drum motor has no external components to protect.

Motorized Pulley Repair

Motorized Pulley Repair & Maintenance Introduction:
Cole Technology has just launched a Motorized Pulley Repair Division. Frank Moreno and I worked for a Van der Graaf Drum Motor distributor for 9 years, and the Van der Graff Manufacturer for 4 years.  Between the two of us we have over 25 years experience with Motorized Pulleys/Drum Motors. Because of our extensive knowledge and experience with Drum Motors, we are able to provide a higher quality repair that sets us apart from other repair facilities. Our goal is to provide high standard repair and maintenance on Motorized Pulleys that you will find is cost efficient compared our competitors. Cole Technology can provide you the quality service you count on, with a fast turn around on repairs.
